Lightning's Craig granted arbitration award

08/06/2007 - Tampa, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Craig was awarded a one-year, $850,000 deal through arbitration on Monday.

The only Lightning player to file for arbitration this offseason, Craig had been seeking a one-year contract worth $1.2 million. The Lightning had asked the arbitrator to award him $650,000 for one year. The 25-year-old center has scored 29 goals and tallied 26 assists in 120 career NHL games.

"We appreciate the fact that the arbitrator weighed all the evidence presented and awarded what we believe is a very reasonable contract for this player," said Lightning general manager Jay Feaster. "We had consistently discussed a negotiated arrangement with Ryan that always had us starting at the $750,000 mark and we believe the award in this case is consistent with our thinking. The good news is that Ryan will now be under contract for the 2007-08 season and the amount of the award will not force our hand in terms of having to move the player."

Tampa Bay has now secured all its restricted free agents for the 2007-08 season.

Academy Award Betting Odds for Best Picture Offer Great Value

If there is any category that is not an obvious win for any one nominee in this year's Academy Awards, it would be for Best Picture.  Sure the Departed is a 5/7 favorite, but that's hardly anything when we look at Helen Mirren and her "out-of-reach" 1 to 40 odds (which means you would win a whopping $1 for every $40 bet).

Who is to say independently produced Little Miss Sunshine won't be this year's Crash.  Last year, Crash won for Best Motion Picture, shocking those who bet on gay cowboy flick, Brokeback Mountain, as the favorite to win.
